Our Mission:
To establish a recreational trail that will provide a safe route for non-motorized transit along a previous rail line that connected Owego, NY, to Ithaca, NY. (See Map.)

Here is an excerpt from the Town of Caroline website describing this trail.
“We are delighted that we now have an easement agreement in place with NYSEG to establish a recreational trail extending from the end of the South Hill Recreation Way Trail at Burns Road in Ithaca to White Church Road at the Tompkins/Tioga County border. We are currently calling this 7.8-mile extension the Coddington Valley Rail Trail. The resulting rail trail will connect with the Finger Lakes Trail and promote safe recreational opportunities and transit across Tompkins County. We will be working to make the trail inviting but unobtrusive to nearby properties. A Friends of the Coddington Valley Rail Trail group has formed and has already begun trail clearing. If you’d like to join, please send an email to: friendsofcvrt@gmail.com“

Here’s an article from Ithaca Times, from April 2024 which summarizes where we are with collaboration of the four towns involved.
